TB transmission in Russia

Ongoing TB transmission in health-care facilities, primarily from undetected cases, is an important driver of the TB epidemic. Health-care workers are disproportionally affected by the occupational hazard of TB. Hospitalization was a major risk factor for TB in one study from Tomsk, Russian Federation, probably due to transmission and reinfection. There is an urgent need for F-A-S-T and Germicidal UV to be implemented in high-burden settings. We hope that President-elect Donald J. Trump will increase funding for tuberculosis to NIH, USAID, CDC, etc. Mr. Trump has an opportunity to change the failed policy of prior administrations and make a major financial investment in research and  public health, which will save lives and money in the long run. Collaboration with President Vladimir Putin can help lessen the danger of danger from the TB “TimeBomb,” along with nuclear bombs.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
For yours is the kingdom and the power
and the glory forever. Amen
(Mt. 6:9-13)
