From Dr. Peter Small:

Happy New Year!

I am looking for an exceptional MD or PhD to take a leadership role in executing a drone based innovative TB control project in Madagascar .  This 1-2 year fellowship will be based at Stony Brook University (where Peter Small has recently founded a Global Health Institute) and operated out of the Center ValBio in Ranomafana, Madagascar (where Stony Brook has been working in partnership with the government for nearly 30 years).

This funded project  aspires to integrate 4 emerging technologies (drones, video instructional curriculum, Medication Event Reminder Recorders and cough counters) to remove the barriers to care in really remote settings (distance, training gaps, inconsistent adherence and lack of clinical oversight). The selected fellow will be the primary person responsible for translating this vision into reality including devising and executing protocols, building and managing a local team, engaging national and local partners and conveying results in written and oral format. In short, this is an ideal cap stone project as one transitions from being a trainee to an independent academic career. The ultimate direction of that career could be as focused as TB or a broad as health care systems in remote settings.

Applicants must have

?         an MD or PhD with a background in implementation or clinical research

?         an understanding of TB care and control

?         excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication skills and academic record

?         fluency in English (fluency in French or Malagasy is highly desirable)

This position is open now and is expected to fill no later than July 2017. It is expected that the fellow will spend the majority of their time living and working in Madagascar. Interested applicants should email a description of their research interest and a Curriculum Vitae to:
