how many more cyclists will have to die?
madison jane lyden, age 23, had been visiting new york city on “the trip of a lifetime” and was the ninth cyclist to die in a traffic collision in new york city this year. she was hit by a garbage truck after swerving in its lane to avoid a livery cab. the driver was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. of course the driver is culpable, but the real guilty person seems to be the governor of new york, andrew cuomo.
why doesn’t he ensure that new york city is safe for cyclists? the same for charlie baker here in massachusetts. why doesn’t he ensure that boston is safe for cyclists? an occasional death might not matter to these politicians. but i’m sure it does matter to madison jane lyden’s mother and father.
what do you think?
