500 miles against fear and suicide: a matter of r-e-s-p-e-c-t

most folks i know just want a simple life– r-e-s-p-e-c-t, to quote the late, great aretha franklin. r-e-s-p-e-c-t means an end to the rat race that is making so many people so depressed and stressed. r-e-s-p-e-c-t means an end to corporate crime, a bloated military, anger, fear, sexual abuse, mental illness, suicide. r-e-s-p-e-c-t means time with families, less financial stress, less of the ultra-rich winning while the rest of us sink into poverty, debt, homelessness, and ruin.

but in order to achieve r-e-s-p-e-c-t from others, we need to r-e-s-p-e-c-t ourselves. that means to understand our fears. fears of death, of isolation, of failure, of illness, of financial ruin, of being humiliated in front of our peers. only once we understand and let go of our fears, will can achieve self r-e-s-p-e-c-t.

r-e-s-p-e-c-t is all about paying attention to ones own emotions, and communicating well with family, friends, and coworkers. we have to become knowledgeable and empathetic.

i’m up to 25 miles in my quest for 500 to end suicide and fear, and r-e-s-p-e-c-t myself once again, and hope i’ll see you along the way.
