virus samples arrive at boston university laboratory

south end facility beginning work on ebola, marburg

felice freyer wrote an interesting article in the boston globe today about virus research that’s getting started at the national emerging infectious diseases laboratories (neidl) at boston university.

[conflict of interest note: i am a faculty member at boston university, and in the boston medical center infectious diseases section].

i agree with dr. elke mühlberger, that it was a “great day” when the ebola and marburg viruses arrived at the biosafety level 4 laboratory.  along with the 2014-2016 outbreak in west africa, and democratic republic of congo outbreak (drc) this past may, there is actually another ongoing ebola outbreak in the drc.

to learn more, i suggest following on twitter.

what do you think about the ebola and marburg research ongoing at bu?
